Semi-Permanent Makeup

MICROSHADING (POWDER OMBRE BROWS) is the most recent trend in eyebrow semi-permanent makeup. It provides the brows a gently shaded brow pencil appearance as well as excellent depth and definition. Ombre brows can be tailored to the client’s preferences. The added advantage of shading is that it can be combined with microblading to produce a realistic look! Suitable for all skin types (normal, oily, dry, and combination).

MICROBLADING uses individual hair-like strokes to replicate the natural hair of the brow. The results are lighter compared to shading. However, not all types of skin are suitable for microblading. Skin types that are oily and mature are not ideal for this procedure.

These methods are safe for all skin types; however, some contraindications should be noted:

  • Pregnant/ Nursing/ Hormonal Imbalance.
  • Diabetic (if diabetic, doctor’s approval is required.
  • Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorders).
  • History of Keloids (firm, rubbery, lesions or shiny, fibrous nodules, and can vary from pink to the color of the person’s skin or red to dark brown in colour, more common with darker skin tones).
  • Bleeding disorder, taking anti-coagulant/ blood thinner medication, seizures, and active Herpes Simplex (needs doctor’s note of approval).
  • Blood borne pathogen diseases: HIV (AIDS), Hepatitis B & C.
  • Brow surgeries must obtain an approval from you family doctor.
  • Accutane must stop 6 months before and after treatment.

  •  7 days before: Avoid applying exfoliants or harsh products such as retinols, acids (AHA/BHA), anti-aging creams on the treatment area. Also, avoid tanning or exposure to sunlight (sunburnt) and brow plucking or waxing.
  • 14 days before: Avoid medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, Vitamin E or blood thinners. Also, avoid Botox procedures that may result in alteration of brow shape and positioning.
  • 1 month before: Avoid using chemical peels and/or other strong exfoliant products.

Lists to avoid after your semi-permanent appointment

  • 7 to 14 days after: Avoid applying harsh or exfoliant products near the brows or on the treated areas.
  • 14 days after: Refrain from sauna and swimming (in any kind of water).

In general, there are 6 stages in the healing process of the Semi-permanent brow:

Stage 1 (Day 1 to 4): The brows may appear red, swelling (mild to moderate), and dark.

Stage 2 (Day 4 to 12): Formation of scabs and itchy brows. Brows may appear smaller due to tightening of the skin during the scab formation. This may be temporary and can be fixed during the touch-up process.

Stage 3(Day 5 to 12): Brows may be patchy and lighter in color.

Stage 4 (Day 10 to 20): Pigment will show up indicating the healing is almost complete.

Stage 5 (Day 30 to 45): Initial touch-up is recommended. Size and shape of the eyebrows can be adjusted if needed. Please be aware that while we can “add”, we are unable to “remove” or alter the brow’s size or shape.

Stage 6: Completely healed brows.

Important!

There will be downtime between the second and seventh post-procedure days. Make sure you do not have an important occasion or event scheduled up.

  • Prior to scheduling an appointment, we encourage you to schedule a free consultation to confirm candidature and discuss all relevant details.

Additional Services

Color Correction

Old semi-permanent cosmetics brows that have over time changed to blue, purple, grey, or reddish-orange can be fixed with corrector pigments.

Pigment Lightening

Semi-permanent brows removal without the use of lasers involves the use of a needle to deliver a lightening solution into the skin. It will form a scab and cause the color pigment to peel off the skin. In 6 to 12 days, the scabs will naturally fall off. One to five treatments can be necessary, with a one to two months interval between sessions.
